DEER SEASON

| Mex isn't here but he did come by with photos that he wanted loaded up to the site. So you will have to live with my commentary not his. Maybe when he gets back he'll change it to his story.

Getting Ready!!

Well, I got a call this morning around 9am and the first words I heard were "I got one". Mex had got his first deer!! I asked him how big and he said it was just a spike but he had only been sitting there about 15 minutes when it walked right in front of him. At lunch time, they came up to the house with 2 deer. Spencer had got one too!

As I said earlier, I'm sure he will want to make his own page. But I know he wanted to get these photos up. So keep looking for his version. He said he was going to come home tomorrow. So check back in day or so.

I'm Back!! Jen did a fine job filling in while I've been out in the wild. I seem to have acquired a little bit of Ted Nugent-ism this week! Nothin' like pickin' a little guitar around the fire, getting up early the next morning, and bringing home some backstrap! All I can add is, I want to publicly thank Spencer for putting me on some of the finest hunting in these here mountains. But I also got a lot of buddies up in these woods, and the season ain't over yet! I ran by my ol' buddy Clifford's, but there was more celebratin' at the time than hunting!

Here's a few shots from up on the mountain. On the left is looking off from Clifford's cabin, on the right is the view of Lake Lure from Ronnie's camp.
Everyone's been asking, Spence got him a fine 9 point. I haven't had the opportunity to measure him up, but trust me, he's a nice 'un!
Here's a final shot of us skining them out. It was my first, and I must say, I did a fine job! Not one tear in the hide. I might tan him up, but I'm afraid that's more of a process than I might want to undertake!
